Well, as it was announced yesterday, not even 24hrs ago as yet, that Sam Worthington is in talks to play Dracula in a film titled Dracula Year Zero.
This adds to the already growing number of actors who are associated with vampire or vampire related films, including Johnny Depp set to play Barnabas Collins in a Dark Shadows remake and Brad Pitt set to produce Vlad.
Soon, before you know it, everyone in Hollywood will have been "Vamped".
So it's with that fang-tastic idea in mind that I am posing the question to you my dear readers: Which actor (or actress if you will) would you like to see play a vampire, be it again or for the first time, in Tv or film?
And continuing in the vein of things, My poem Beautiful/ Deadly is featured today for Writer's Wednesdays on author Nicole Hadaway's blog All things Smart and Scary.
And in celebration of All things Beautiful and Deadly, here are two fan made videos featuring actors who play(ed) vampires, and if I do say so myself, Death Becomes them both Beautifully indeed: It's Vampire Henry Fitzroy (as embodied by actor Kyle Schmid) in a fan vid set to the song Time of Dying by Three Days Grace.
And Vampire Damon Salvatore (as portrayed by actor Ian Somerhalder) in a fan vid set to the song Oh Death by Jen Titus.

I'd love to see more vampires in comedy, but for the life of me I can't think of any living comedians who I'd like to see in the part. Maybe some other readers can help me out. Or, considering I lust after Jason Statham, maybe they could give him the heart of a vampire in the next Crank movie. Otherwise, how about Gerard Butler, from the cape of a Spartan to the cape of a vampire.
Ah come on Soni you know you don't even have to ask me as you already know my answer, it would have to be Kyle Schmid. But on the other hand, since he's been there, done that, I wonder if he would ever want to do it again. If he were to take another vampire role on he could just improve on what he started with Henry Fitzroy, although I don't know how much more it could be improved upon cause it was pretty near perfect.
I'm going to have to second maggiemay and say that I'd like to see Kyle Schmid reprise his role in the second season of Blood Ties which should be on another network by now, like TNT or something!!
@ BJ Howard, of course for Gerard Butler that would be an "again", as he did play Dracula in "Dracula 2000.
Re: (vampires in comedy), have you ever seen (Canadian) comic actor Leslie Neilsen in "Dracula: Dead and Loving it" ? It came out back in 1995, and was a spoof on Bram Stokers Dracula which had come out in 1992. It was directed by legendary comic actor himself, Mel Brooks... Then there was (another Canadian) Jim Carrey in "Once Bitten" waay back in 1985,then "My Best Friend is a vampire" with Robert Sean Leonard (from tv's House MD)and of course 1992's Buffy the Vampire Slayer movie.
There was about a 10year period back in the late 80's early '90's when vampires were the coolest things since... and seems where in that kinda time again. However unlike then, not the tv networks aren't patient enough to get an audience built, it's all like "Wham, bam thank you 'mam!"
No doubt had they not been so eager to stake shows like Blood Ties and Moonlight, they would have built / added to their audience from the current popular ones...
And yes of course Maggie & Nicole, it's Henry all the way. I'd love to see him both play Henry again and a new / another vampire (I'm thinking of course, Lestat! ;o)
Ha my 2 fave guys playing vampires already! Kyle and Ian...But it depends on the type of vampire as to who's playing it, male or female.
Two of my fave vamp comedies were "Love at First Bite" w/ George Hamilton and "Rockula" w/ Toni Basil...ha, classics!
Tried to email you but didn't work. You and i share like 80-90% of same loves and interests.
This F'IN ROCKS!
Ha-i meant the Damon video!
Hey Urban,
Whoa I did not get a notification on your comments. Sorry about that :S
Didn't get an email either. Maybe try again (although this is over a year old now, LoL!)
I'll be following your blog as well. Yes that Damon vid is pretty haunting thanks to that song.
